MEDICAL STAFF SERVICES DIRECTOR
The Medical Staff Services Director is responsible for the management of the medical staff organization, including credentialing, reappraisal, Joint Commission (Medical Staff section) standards, institutional review, bylaws and policies, fair hearing processes, and physician CME coordination, and assists in physician recruitment. The Medical Staff Services Director reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer of the hospital and continually updates the Medical Staff Officers, Department and Committee Chairmen.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business, health care management or other related degree preferred.
- Existing Certification by the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) as a Certified Medical Staff Director (CMSC) or as a Certified Provider of Credentialing Specialists (CPCS) preferred. If current certification is not held, certification must be obtained within first year of employment.
- Equivalent of five years experience at the executive/administrative level, preferably in Medical Staff Services.
- Familiarity with computerized data systems and MS Office.

CONTRACT MANAGER - MANAGED CARE

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Contract Manager works directly with the Director of Managed Care (DMC) in the analysis, review, and [re]negotiation of managed care agreements (obtaining final approval from the Managed Care Committee, managed care plan, and the University), the operationalization of managed care agreements (planning for and coordinating the implementation of the agreements), and the maintenance of managed care agreements (management and coordination of the ongoing agreements on a daily basis). This position also coordinates and facilitates USF physicians and facilities gaining access to patients from non-contracted managed care organizations by negotiating single patient agreements. This position serves as a resource in the managed care field by advising and assisting physicians, clinical departments, and administrative departments on managed care issues and initiatives and serves as a liaison between managed care organizations and USFPG with respect to contract and provider enrollment issues. Represents the DMC in certain meetings, situations, etc. in which the DMC is not available
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Financial analysis and review of managed care agreements.
- Responsible for all aspects of the analysis and review of proposed managed care agreements. This includes analysis and evaluation of proposed reimbursement, review of contract language from both an operational and a legal perspective, and analysis of the strategic impact of the agreement on USFPG.
- Often requires direct coordination and consultation with USFPG Executive Advisor, Chairmen of clinical departments, Clinical Department Administrators, Directors of administrative departments, and Medical Directors of USFPG facilities. This review must produce a recommendation to the Managed Care Committee through the DMC on whether a managed care agreement should be executed or the specific terms that are being renegotiated.
- Communication and coordination with the managed care organization regarding any required changes.
- Maintenance of managed care agreements.
- Monitor and manage the ongoing operation of managed care agreements to include supervising the loading of USFPG practitioners and review of provider directories, analyzing charges and collections generated by the agreement, and reviewing on a continuous basis the impact of the agreement on the practice.
- Act as a liaison and problem solving agent between the USFPG clinical/administrative departments and the managed care organization.
- Serve as the information source for clinical/administrative departments requiring information about the managed care agreement.
- Coordinates and facilitates amendments to the managed care agreements as required.
- Ensures that clinical/administrative departments, as well as the Managed Care Committee, are continually updated with changes and amendments to the agreements. This continuous interdepartmental correspondence with Revenue Cycle Operations is particularly important.
- Recommends to the Managed Care Committee through the DMC when a managed care agreement should be terminated.
- Responsible to the DMC for the overall management of managed care agreements.
- Performs other related duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree.
- Health Plan or Practice Management experience preferred. Thorough understanding of the theory and application of the principles of managed care and/or health insurance industry.
- Minimum 3 years managed care contracting experience either in a physician group practice, physician network, or managed care organization. Experience with the review and coordination of contractual and other legal documents.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, presentation, and computer skills (requires proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Must have analytical skills necessary to interpret contract terms and create reimbursement models to analyze contracts.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and medical billing and/or coding preferred.

Prerequisites
Duties include but are not limited to:
Ø Personnel management; management and development of the next level of supervisors.
Ø Oversee efficient distribution of staff coverage.
Ø Oversee and provide support for Revenue Cycle Management activities at the clinical level.

Experience
Experience should include a minimum of 5 years experience supervising staff in a healthcare setting.
Education
Masters level trained administrator to serve multi-specialty physician group in practice operations.

Additional duties and responsibilities:
Ø Site managers serve as leaders in the organization and may support various committees. Site managers direct the monthly supervisor meeting.
Ø Site managers support the initiatives of other departments to ensure consistency throughout the organization.
Ø As leaders in the organization, site managers are expected to adhere to all policies and procedures including dress code, asked to support MIMA’s out of work activities, and to professionally interact with all internal and external customers; e.g. other supervisors, directors, patients, vendors, physicians and administrative leadership.
